GL2 Troubleshooting
Frequent GL2 Opening Issues
XnView MP is Not Installed
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open GL2 Files" when trying to open your GL2. If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have XnView MP for %%os%% installed on your computer. Your operating system cannot associate your GL2 with XnView MP, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: When another GL2 application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Outdated XnView MP
Sometimes your installed version of XnView MP won't support your HP Graphics Language Plotter Document file. If you do not have the proper version XnView MP (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is predominately due to having a HP Graphics Language Plotter Document file version that was created by a newer version of XnView MP than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of GL2 file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Regardless, most of the GL2 file opening problems relate to not having the right version of XnView MP installed.
Other Causes of GL2 File Opening Problems
Even with the correct version of XnView MP installed, you can still experience difficulties opening GL2s. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening GL2 files. Other contributing causes:
- GL2 file type Registry entries are wrong
- Unintentional removal of the description of the GL2 file inside the Windows Registry
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the GL2 format
- Something has caused file corruption of your GL2
- Malware-tainted GL2 file can't be opened
- Device drivers for GL2-related hardware are out-of-date
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open HP Graphics Language Plotter Document files
