Frequent HP8 Opening Issues
HP NetWave Write Isn't There
When trying to open your HP8 file, you get the error "Can't Open HP8 File Type". If so, it typically means that you don't have HP NetWave Write installed for %%os%%. The typical path of opening your HP8 with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your HP8, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
HP NetWave Write Requires Update
It is possible that your version of HP NetWave Write isn't able to open your NewWave Write Text File file due to incompatibility. Installing the latest version of HP NetWave Write from Hewlett-Packard is recommended. The primary cause of this problem is that your NewWave Write Text File file was created by a different (newer) version of HP NetWave Write than what's installed.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your HP8 file and clicking "Properties".
Primarily, problems experienced when opening HP8 files are due to having the incorrect version of HP NetWave Write installed on your computer.
Additional HP8 Opening Issues
Assuming you have the right HP NetWave Write version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening HP8 files. If you're still experiencing problems opening HP8 files, there could be other computer problems. Other contributing causes:
- Windows Registry HP8 file paths that are incorrect
- Accidental deletion of the description of the HP8 file in the Windows registry
- HP NetWave Write or another HP8 application experienced a flawed installation
- File corruption affecting your HP8 file
- Past or present virus infection has affected your HP8
- Hardware related to HP8s has device driver corruption
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the NewWave Write Text File file
