Sources of PLO Problems
Issues Opening PLO Files
XnView MP Not Present
When trying to open your PLO file, you get the error "Can't Open PLO File Type". When this happens, it is commonly due to XnView MP missing in %%os%%. You won't be able to double-click to open your PLO because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: When another PLO application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Outdated XnView MP
Sometimes your installed version of XnView MP won't support your HP Graphics Language Plotter Document file. If you do not have the proper version XnView MP (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is predominately due to having a HP Graphics Language Plotter Document file version that was created by a newer version of XnView MP than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your PLO file and clicking "Properties".
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening PLO files are due to having the wrong version of XnView MP installed.
Associated Difficulties Loading PLO Files
Errors opening HP Graphics Language Plotter Document files can still occur even with the latest XnView MP software installed on your computer. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening PLO files. Issues that aren't software-related:
- PLO file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- The PLO file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Defective install of a PLO program, such as XnView MP
- Something has caused file corruption of your PLO
- Past or present virus infection has affected your PLO
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your PLO file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Windows has inadequate resources to open your HP Graphics Language Plotter Document file
