Sources of USL Problems
Common Problems Opening USL Files
Classical Text Editor Removed
If you attempt to load your USL file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open USL Files". If so, it typically means that you don't have Classical Text Editor installed for %%os%%. The typical path of opening your USL with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you don't have Classical Text Editor installed, and you know of another program to open your USL file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Outdated Classical Text Editor
In other instances, your LaserJet Landscape Font File file version may not be supported by your version of Classical Text Editor. Visit the Stefan Hagel website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Classical Text Editor. Your LaserJet Landscape Font File file was probably created by a newer release of Classical Text Editor than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of USL file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Primarily, problems experienced when opening USL files are due to having the incorrect version of Classical Text Editor installed on your computer.
Associated Difficulties Loading USL Files
Although you might already have Classical Text Editor or another USL-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening LaserJet Landscape Font File files. Other USL opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Other contributing causes:
- Windows Registry USL file paths that are incorrect
- The USL file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Defective install of a USL program, such as Classical Text Editor
- USL file corruption
- USL file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Hardware related to USLs has device driver corruption
- Windows has inadequate resources to open your LaserJet Landscape Font File file
