BAY File Complications

Common BAY Opening Problems

Microsoft Windows Photos Removed

When trying to open your BAY file, you get the error "Can't Open BAY File Type". If so, it typically means that you don't have Microsoft Windows Photos installed for %%os%%. The OS won't know what to do with your BAY file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.

Tip: When another BAY application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.

Obsolete Version of Microsoft Windows Photos

It is possible that your version of Microsoft Windows Photos isn't able to open your Casio RAW Image file due to incompatibility. You will need to download a newer version of Microsoft Windows Photos if you don't have the right version. Your Casio RAW Image file was probably created by a newer release of Microsoft Windows Photos than what's currently installed your computer.

Tip: If you right-click on your BAY file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.

Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening BAY files are due to having the wrong version of Microsoft Windows Photos installed.

Additional BAY Opening Issues

Even with the correct version of Microsoft Windows Photos installed, you can still experience difficulties opening BAYs. Other BAY opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Additional factors include:

  • Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for BAY
  • Deletion of the BAY file description from the Registry by mistake
  • Partial installation of Microsoft Windows Photos that did not fully complete
  • File corruption affecting your BAY file
  • Your BAY has adversely impacted by malware
  • Device drivers of the hardware associated with your BAY file are corrupt or out-of-date
  • Too many applications are open on your PC to load your Casio RAW Image file successfully
