Understanding DTI Issues
Common DTI Opening Problems
Microsoft Windows Isn't There
If you attempt to load your DTI file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open DTI Files". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Microsoft Windows isn't installed on your PC. The typical path of opening your DTI with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens DTI files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Wrong Version of Microsoft Windows is Installed
It is possible that your version of Microsoft Windows isn't able to open your Microsoft Windows Application Log File file due to incompatibility. If you've got the wrong version of Microsoft Windows installed, you'll need to install the correct version. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: Investigate your DTI file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening DTI files are due to having the incorrect version of Microsoft Windows installed on your computer.
Other DTI File Opening Causes
Errors opening Microsoft Windows Application Log File files can still occur even with the latest Microsoft Windows software installed on your computer. If you are still having problems opening DTI files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Problems unrelated to software:
- Invalid DTI file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- Accidental deletion of the description of the DTI file in the Windows registry
- Defective install of a DTI program, such as Microsoft Windows
- DTI file corruption
- The DTI is infected with a virus
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your DTI file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Microsoft Windows Application Log File format
