LOCAL File Complications

Typical LOCAL Opening Challenges

Missing Delphi (IDE)

Double-clicking your LOCAL file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open LOCAL File". Usually, this is because you do not have Delphi (IDE) for %%os%% installed. The typical path of opening your LOCAL with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.

Tip: Another LOCAL-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.

Obsolete Version of Delphi (IDE)

In other instances, your Delphi User-Specific Project Options file version may not be supported by your version of Delphi (IDE). If you do not have the proper version Delphi (IDE) (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.

Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your LOCAL file and clicking "Properties".

Regardless, most of the LOCAL file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Delphi (IDE) installed.

Other LOCAL File Issues

You can still experience errors opening LOCAL files even with the latest version of Delphi (IDE) installed on your PC. If you are continuing to have errors with loading LOCAL files, other external issues might be to blame. Problems unrelated to software:

  • LOCAL file type Registry entries are wrong
  • Accidental deletion of the description of the LOCAL file in the Windows registry
  • Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the LOCAL format
  • The LOCAL itself is corrupted
  • Your LOCAL is infected with malware
  • Hardware associated with LOCAL has outdated drivers
  • Too many applications are open on your PC to load your Delphi User-Specific Project Options file successfully
