Understanding WFO Issues
Frequent WFO Opening Issues
Delphi (IDE) Disappeared
When you double-click your WFO file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". If so, it typically means that you don't have Delphi (IDE) installed for %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your WFO with Delphi (IDE), so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your WFO, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Delphi (IDE) is Out-of-Date
Sometimes your installed version of Delphi (IDE) won't support your Delphi Runimage File file. If you've got the wrong version of Delphi (IDE) installed, you'll need to install the correct version. Most of the time your Delphi Runimage File file was created by a newer Delphi (IDE) than what you have installed.
Tip: If you right-click on your WFO file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening WFO files are due to having the incorrect version of Delphi (IDE) installed on your computer.
Other WFO File Issues
Although you might already have Delphi (IDE) or another WFO-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Delphi Runimage File files. If you are still having problems opening WFO files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. These issues include:
- WFO file type Registry entries are wrong
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry WFO description
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the WFO format
- Something has caused file corruption of your WFO
- The WFO is infected with a virus
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your WFO file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Windows has inadequate resources to open your Delphi Runimage File file
