Sources of 5D Problems
Typical 5D Opening Challenges
Microsoft Works Removed
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open 5D Files" when trying to open your 5D. Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Microsoft Works isn't installed on your PC. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your 5D file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Outdated Microsoft Works
Your Microsoft Works File file is incompatible with Microsoft Works because you might have the wrong version installed. If you've got the wrong version of Microsoft Works installed, you'll need to install the correct version. Your Microsoft Works File file was probably created by a newer release of Microsoft Works than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Investigate your 5D file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening 5D files are due to having the incorrect version of Microsoft Works installed on your computer.
