ACCDU Troubleshooting
Typical ACCDU Opening Challenges
Microsoft Access is Not Installed
When trying to open your ACCDU file, you get the error "Can't Open ACCDU File Type". When this happens, it is commonly due to Microsoft Access missing in %%os%%. The typical path of opening your ACCDU with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your ACCDU file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Microsoft Access Requires Update
Your Microsoft Access Database Wizard file is incompatible with Microsoft Access because you might have the wrong version installed. You will need to download a newer version of Microsoft Access if you don't have the right version. Your Microsoft Access Database Wizard file was probably created by a newer release of Microsoft Access than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of ACCDU file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening ACCDU files are due to having the wrong version of Microsoft Access installed.
More Causes of Problems Opening ACCDUs
You can still experience errors opening ACCDU files even with the latest version of Microsoft Access installed on your PC. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening ACCDU files. Problems unrelated to software:
- ACCDU file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry ACCDU description
- Defective install of a ACCDU program, such as Microsoft Access
- The ACCDU itself is corrupted
- Your ACCDU has adversely impacted by malware
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your ACCDU file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your Microsoft Access Database Wizard file successfully
