ACF Troubleshooting

Issues Opening ACF Files

Valve Steam Removed

When you double-click your ACF file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Usually, this is because you do not have Valve Steam for %%os%% installed. The OS won't know what to do with your ACF file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.

Tip: Another ACF-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.

Outdated Valve Steam

It is possible that your version of Valve Steam isn't able to open your Steam Application Cache File file due to incompatibility. Download the latest Valve Steam version from the Valve website to ensure you have the correct one installed. This problem is predominately due to having a Steam Application Cache File file version that was created by a newer version of Valve Steam than what you have installed on your PC.

Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your ACF file and clicking "Properties".
