ADPCM Troubleshooting
Typical ADPCM Opening Challenges
Microsoft Windows Media Player Not Present
When you double-click your ADPCM file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Usually, this is because you do not have Microsoft Windows Media Player for %%os%% installed. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your ADPCM file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Incorrect Microsoft Windows Media Player Version
It is possible that your version of Microsoft Windows Media Player isn't able to open your ADPCM Audio file due to incompatibility. You will need to download a newer version of Microsoft Windows Media Player if you don't have the right version. Most of the time your ADPCM Audio file was created by a newer Microsoft Windows Media Player than what you have installed.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of ADPCM file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Primarily, problems experienced when opening ADPCM files are due to having the incorrect version of Microsoft Windows Media Player installed on your computer.
Additional ADPCM Opening Issues
Errors opening ADPCM Audio files can still occur even with the latest Microsoft Windows Media Player software installed on your computer. If you're still experiencing problems opening ADPCM files, there could be other computer problems. Additional factors include:
