The ADPCM file extension may refer to a data file that is related to a subclass of the Microsoft waveform file format (WAV) called ADPCM. ADPCM stands for Adaptive Delta Pulse Code Modulation. The waveforms stored in the ADPCM audio are in 8 or 16 bit PCM. Although it uses only 4 bits per sample, the quality f the sound is inferior. The ADPCM format may also use the WAV extension.

Microsoft Windows Media Player Not Present

When you double-click your ADPCM file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Usually, this is because you do not have Microsoft Windows Media Player for %%os%% installed. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
