Issues Opening AG4 Files

Microsoft Access Disappeared

You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open AG4 Files" when trying to open your AG4. If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Microsoft Access for %%os%% installed on your computer. Your operating system cannot associate your AG4 with Microsoft Access, so double-clicking the file won't work.

Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your AG4, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").

Outdated Microsoft Access

In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Microsoft Access G4 Data file that is unsupported by your installed application version. If you do not have the proper version Microsoft Access (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This issue mainly occurs when your Microsoft Access G4 Data file was created by a newer version of Microsoft Access than you have on your PC.

Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the AG4 file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.

Regardless, most of the AG4 file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Microsoft Access installed.

Even with the correct version of Microsoft Access installed, you can still experience difficulties opening AG4s. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening AG4s. Issues that aren't software-related:

• AG4 file type Registry entries are wrong
• Unintentional removal of the description of the AG4 file inside the Windows Registry
• Partial installation of Microsoft Access that did not fully complete
• File corruption affecting your AG4 file
• The AG4 is infected with a virus
• Drivers associated with AG4 software need to be updated
• Insufficient system resources to successfully open Microsoft Access G4 Data files
