Sources of APPLICATION Problems
Common APPLICATION Opening Problems
Microsoft .NET Framework Disappeared
If you attempt to load your APPLICATION file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open APPLICATION Files". Customarily, this means that Microsoft .NET Framework is not installed on %%os%%. The typical path of opening your APPLICATION with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens APPLICATION files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Wrong Version of Microsoft .NET Framework is Installed
Sometimes your installed version of Microsoft .NET Framework won't support your ClickOnce Deployment Manifest File file. If you do not have the proper version Microsoft .NET Framework (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is predominately due to having a ClickOnce Deployment Manifest File file version that was created by a newer version of Microsoft .NET Framework than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: If you right-click on your APPLICATION file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Summary: Not having the right Microsoft .NET Framework version on your computer can cause problems opening APPLICATION files.
Other Causes of APPLICATION File Opening Problems
Errors opening ClickOnce Deployment Manifest File files can still occur even with the latest Microsoft .NET Framework software installed on your computer. If you are continuing to have errors with loading APPLICATION files, other external issues might be to blame. These issues include:
- Invalid APPLICATION file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- Deletion of the APPLICATION file description from the Registry by mistake
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the APPLICATION format
- Your APPLICATION can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Your APPLICATION is infected with malware
- Hardware associated with APPLICATION has outdated drivers
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open ClickOnce Deployment Manifest File files
