AXD File Complications

Common Problems Opening AXD Files

Missing LibreOffice

You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open AXD Files" when trying to open your AXD. Usually, this is because you do not have LibreOffice for %%os%% installed. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.

Tip: If you know of another program that can open your AXD file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.

Incorrect LibreOffice Version

Sometimes your installed version of LibreOffice won't support your ASP.NET Web Handler File file. Installing the latest version of LibreOffice from The Document Foundation is recommended. Your ASP.NET Web Handler File file was probably created by a newer release of LibreOffice than what's currently installed your computer.

Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your AXD file and clicking "Properties".

Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening AXD files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.

Other AXD File Issues

You can still experience errors opening AXD files even with the latest version of LibreOffice installed on your PC. If you're still experiencing problems opening AXD files, there could be other computer problems. These issues include:

  • Windows Registry AXD file paths that are incorrect
  • Deletion of the AXD file description from the Registry by mistake
  • Defective install of a AXD program, such as LibreOffice
  • Your AXD can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
  • Your AXD is infected with malware
  • AXD-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
  • Windows has inadequate resources to open your ASP.NET Web Handler File file
