Troubleshooting Problems Opening BFB Files
Issues Opening BFB Files
Zoo Tycoon 2 Not Present
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open BFB Files" when trying to open your BFB. If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Zoo Tycoon 2 for %%os%% installed on your computer. The typical path of opening your BFB with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your BFB, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Obsolete Version of Zoo Tycoon 2
It is possible that your version of Zoo Tycoon 2 isn't able to open your Zoo Tycoon 2 Model File file due to incompatibility. Visit the Microsoft Corporation website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Zoo Tycoon 2. Your Zoo Tycoon 2 Model File file was probably created by a newer release of Zoo Tycoon 2 than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: If you right-click on your BFB file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening BFB files are due to having the incorrect version of Zoo Tycoon 2 installed on your computer.
More Causes of Problems Opening BFBs
Although you might already have Zoo Tycoon 2 or another BFB-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Zoo Tycoon 2 Model File files. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening BFB files. Additional factors include:
