BGI Troubleshooting
Common Problems Opening BGI Files
BgInfo Isn't There
If you attempt to load your BGI file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open BGI Files". Customarily, this means that BgInfo is not installed on %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your BGI with BgInfo, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: Another BGI-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
BgInfo Requires Update
In other instances, your BgInfo Configuration File file version may not be supported by your version of BgInfo. You will need to download a newer version of BgInfo if you don't have the right version. This issue mainly occurs when your BgInfo Configuration File file was created by a newer version of BgInfo than you have on your PC.
Tip: Right-clicking on your BGI, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Conclusion: The majority of BGI file opening issues are due to not having the correct BgInfo version installed.
Other BGI File Issues
You can still experience errors opening BGI files even with the latest version of BgInfo installed on your PC. If you're still experiencing problems opening BGI files, there could be other computer problems. These issues include:
- Windows Registry BGI file paths that are incorrect
- Unintentional removal of the description of the BGI file inside the Windows Registry
- Corrupt install of BgInfo or other BGI-related program
- Something has caused file corruption of your BGI
- Your BGI is infected with malware
- Drivers associated with BGI software need to be updated
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the BgInfo Configuration File format
