Sources of BND Problems

Frequent BND Opening Issues

IBM DB2 is Not Installed

You attempt to load your BND file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The BND File Extension". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because IBM DB2 isn't installed on your PC. You won't be able to double-click to open your BND because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.

Tip: If you don't have IBM DB2 installed, and you know of another program to open your BND file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".

Incorrect IBM DB2 Version

It is possible that your version of IBM DB2 isn't able to open your DB2 CLI Bind File file due to incompatibility. If you do not have the proper version IBM DB2 (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.

Tip: Investigate your BND file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.

Conclusion: The majority of BND file opening issues are due to not having the correct IBM DB2 version installed.

More Causes of Problems Opening BNDs

Even with the correct version of IBM DB2 installed, you can still experience difficulties opening BNDs. Other BND opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):

  • BND file type Registry entries are wrong
  • Deletion of the BND file description from the Registry by mistake
  • Corrupt install of IBM DB2 or other BND-related program
  • The BND itself is corrupted
  • Malware-tainted BND file can't be opened
  • Device drivers for BND-related hardware are out-of-date
  • Too many applications are open on your PC to load your DB2 CLI Bind File file successfully
