BTR Troubleshooting
Issues Opening BTR Files
Pervasive Btrieve Database Manager Not Present
When you double-click your BTR file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Customarily, this means that Pervasive Btrieve Database Manager is not installed on %%os%%. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens BTR files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Pervasive Btrieve Database Manager Requires Update
It is possible that your version of Pervasive Btrieve Database Manager isn't able to open your Btrieve Database File file due to incompatibility. Installing the latest version of Pervasive Btrieve Database Manager from Actian Corporation is recommended. The primary cause of this problem is that your Btrieve Database File file was created by a different (newer) version of Pervasive Btrieve Database Manager than what's installed.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your BTR file and clicking "Properties".
Summary: Not having the right Pervasive Btrieve Database Manager version on your computer can cause problems opening BTR files.
