Sources of CDB Problems
Common CDB Opening Problems
Nokia PC Suite Isn't There
If you attempt to load your CDB file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open CDB Files". If so, it typically means that you don't have Nokia PC Suite installed for %%os%%. The OS won't know what to do with your CDB file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: When another CDB application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Obsolete Version of Nokia PC Suite
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Symbian Phonebook Database file that is unsupported by your installed application version. If you've got the wrong version of Nokia PC Suite installed, you'll need to install the correct version. Most of the time your Symbian Phonebook Database file was created by a newer Nokia PC Suite than what you have installed.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of CDB file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Summary: Not having the right Nokia PC Suite version on your computer can cause problems opening CDB files.
Additional CDB Opening Issues
Assuming you have the right Nokia PC Suite version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening CDB files. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening CDB files. Issues that aren't software-related:
- Windows Registry CDB file paths that are incorrect
- Unintentional removal of the description of the CDB file inside the Windows Registry
- Corrupt install of Nokia PC Suite or other CDB-related program
- Your CDB file is corrupted (issues with your Symbian Phonebook Database file itself)
- Past or present virus infection has affected your CDB
- Hardware related to CDBs has device driver corruption
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the Symbian Phonebook Database file
Quiz: Which of these is considered a vector image file?
That's Correct!
The unique thing about vector files such as AI and EPS is that graphic details (eg. sizes and shapes of objects) and text remains editable. This allows you can save and re-open them in Illustrator and edit text or other elements within the graphic.
