CDDA File Complications
Typical CDDA Opening Challenges
Apple iTunes Removed
If you attempt to load your CDDA file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open CDDA Files". When this happens, it is commonly due to Apple iTunes missing in %%os%%. You won't be able to double-click to open your CDDA because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: Another CDDA-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Obsolete Version of Apple iTunes
Sometimes your installed version of Apple iTunes won't support your CD Digital Audio File file. Installing the latest version of Apple iTunes from Apple is recommended. The primary cause of this problem is that your CD Digital Audio File file was created by a different (newer) version of Apple iTunes than what's installed.
Tip: Right-clicking on your CDDA, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening CDDA files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Other Causes of CDDA File Opening Problems
Assuming you have the right Apple iTunes version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening CDDA files. If you are still having problems opening CDDA files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- File references in the Windows Registry for CDDA are wrong
- Deletion of the CDDA file description from the Registry by mistake
- Partial installation of Apple iTunes that did not fully complete
- Your CDDA can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- The CDDA is infected with a virus
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your CDDA file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Windows has inadequate resources to open your CD Digital Audio File file
