CHS File Complications
Issues Opening CHS Files
Microsoft Windows Isn't There
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open CHS Files" when trying to open your CHS. Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Microsoft Windows isn't installed on your PC. The OS won't know what to do with your CHS file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens CHS files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Microsoft Windows Requires Update
Sometimes your installed version of Microsoft Windows won't support your Windows Chinese Noise-Word List File file. If you've got the wrong version of Microsoft Windows installed, you'll need to install the correct version. This problem is predominately due to having a Windows Chinese Noise-Word List File file version that was created by a newer version of Microsoft Windows than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Right-clicking on your CHS, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Regardless, most of the CHS file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Microsoft Windows installed.
Other Causes of CHS File Opening Problems
You can still experience errors opening CHS files even with the latest version of Microsoft Windows installed on your PC. If you are still having problems opening CHS files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Other contributing causes:
