Troubleshoot CKS Files
Troubles Opening CKS Files
Missing Microsoft Windows CE Embedded
When you double-click your CKS file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". When this happens, it is commonly due to Microsoft Windows CE Embedded missing in %%os%%. The typical path of opening your CKS with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: When another CKS application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Microsoft Windows CE Embedded Requires Update
It is possible that your version of Microsoft Windows CE Embedded isn't able to open your Microsoft Windows CE Image Info Data file due to incompatibility. Installing the latest version of Microsoft Windows CE Embedded from Microsoft Corporation is recommended. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the CKS file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening CKS files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Associated Difficulties Loading CKS Files
