Troubleshoot CPI Files
Troubles Opening CPI Files
Adobe Premiere Pro CC Disappeared
When you double-click your CPI file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Adobe Premiere Pro CC isn't installed on your PC. The typical path of opening your CPI with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens CPI files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Incorrect Adobe Premiere Pro CC Version
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a AVCHD Video Clip Information file that is unsupported by your installed application version. If you do not have the proper version Adobe Premiere Pro CC (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This issue mainly occurs when your AVCHD Video Clip Information file was created by a newer version of Adobe Premiere Pro CC than you have on your PC.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of CPI file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening CPI files are due to having the wrong version of Adobe Premiere Pro CC installed.
More Causes of Problems Opening CPIs
