Common Problems Opening CPK Files

Missing CRI Packed File Maker

You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open CPK Files" when trying to open your CPK. Customarily, this means that CRI Packed File Maker is not installed on %%os%%. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.

Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your CPK, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").

Incorrect CRI Packed File Maker Version

Your CRI Middleware Package file is incompatible with CRI Packed File Maker because you might have the wrong version installed. Installing the latest version of CRI Packed File Maker from CRI Middleware is recommended. Your CRI Middleware Package file was probably created by a newer release of CRI Packed File Maker than what's currently installed your computer.

Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your CPK file and clicking "Properties".

Regardless, most of the CPK file opening problems relate to not having the right version of CRI Packed File Maker installed.
