C_ Troubleshooting
Troubles Opening C_ Files
Microsoft Windows Disappeared
When you double-click your C_ file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Usually, this is because you do not have Microsoft Windows for %%os%% installed. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the C_ file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: Another C_-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Outdated Microsoft Windows
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Microsoft Windows WinHelp Compressed Data file that is unsupported by your installed application version. Visit the Microsoft Corporation website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Microsoft Windows. This issue mainly occurs when your Microsoft Windows WinHelp Compressed Data file was created by a newer version of Microsoft Windows than you have on your PC.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the C_ file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening C_ files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Associated Difficulties Loading C_ Files
Even with the correct version of Microsoft Windows installed, you can still experience difficulties opening C_s. If you're still experiencing problems opening C_ files, there could be other computer problems. Other contributing causes:
- C_ file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Unintentional removal of the description of the C_ file inside the Windows Registry
- Partial installation of Microsoft Windows that did not fully complete
- File corruption affecting your C_ file
- C_ file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Hardware associated with C_ has outdated drivers
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the Microsoft Windows WinHelp Compressed Data file
