Troubleshoot DCX Files

Common Problems Opening DCX Files

Missing Adobe Photoshop

If you attempt to load your DCX file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open DCX Files". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Adobe Photoshop for %%os%% installed on your computer. You won't be able to double-click to open your DCX because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.

Tip: When another DCX application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.

Incorrect Adobe Photoshop Version

In other instances, your Zsoft Multi-Page Paintbrush File file version may not be supported by your version of Adobe Photoshop. You will need to download a newer version of Adobe Photoshop if you don't have the right version. Most of the time your Zsoft Multi-Page Paintbrush File file was created by a newer Adobe Photoshop than what you have installed.

Tip: Investigate your DCX file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.

Summary: Not having the right Adobe Photoshop version on your computer can cause problems opening DCX files.

More Causes of Problems Opening DCXs

Although you might already have Adobe Photoshop or another DCX-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Zsoft Multi-Page Paintbrush File files. Other DCX opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. These issues include:

  • DCX file type Registry entries are wrong
  • Unintentional removal of the description of the DCX file inside the Windows Registry
  • Adobe Photoshop or another DCX application experienced a flawed installation
  • File corruption affecting your DCX file
  • Malware-tainted DCX file can't be opened
