DESKTHEMEPACK File Complications
Frequent DESKTHEMEPACK Opening Issues
Microsoft Windows 8 is Not Installed
If you attempt to load your DESKTHEMEPACK file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open DESKTHEMEPACK Files". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Microsoft Windows 8 for %%os%% installed on your computer. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the DESKTHEMEPACK file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: When another DESKTHEMEPACK application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Microsoft Windows 8 Requires Update
In other instances, your Microsoft Windows Theme Pack file version may not be supported by your version of Microsoft Windows 8. You will need to download a newer version of Microsoft Windows 8 if you don't have the right version. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the DESKTHEMEPACK file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Regardless, most of the DESKTHEMEPACK file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Microsoft Windows 8 installed.
Other DESKTHEMEPACK File Issues
Errors opening Microsoft Windows Theme Pack files can still occur even with the latest Microsoft Windows 8 software installed on your computer. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening DESKTHEMEPACKs. Additional factors include:
- Invalid DESKTHEMEPACK file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- Corruption of the DESKTHEMEPACK file description inside the Registry
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the DESKTHEMEPACK format
- The DESKTHEMEPACK itself is corrupted
- Your DESKTHEMEPACK has adversely impacted by malware
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your DESKTHEMEPACK file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open Microsoft Windows Theme Pack files
