Troubleshooting Problems Opening DIA Files

Common Problems Opening DIA Files

Do It Again Not Present

When you double-click your DIA file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Usually, this is because you do not have Do It Again for %%os%% installed. The OS won't know what to do with your DIA file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.

Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your DIA, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").

Obsolete Version of Do It Again

In other instances, your Do It Again Task File file version may not be supported by your version of Do It Again. Download the latest Do It Again version from the Spacetornado Software website to ensure you have the correct one installed. Your Do It Again Task File file was probably created by a newer release of Do It Again than what's currently installed your computer.

Tip: If you right-click on your DIA file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.

Summary: Not having the right Do It Again version on your computer can cause problems opening DIA files.

More Causes of Problems Opening DIAs

Errors opening Do It Again Task File files can still occur even with the latest Do It Again software installed on your computer. Other DIA opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Additional factors include:

  • Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for DIA
  • Mistaken removal of the Windows registry DIA description
  • Invalid installation of a DIA-associated program (eg. Do It Again)
  • DIA file corruption
  • Your DIA has adversely impacted by malware
  • Device drivers for DIA-related hardware are out-of-date
  • Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Do It Again Task File format
