Frequent DICT Opening Issues

QuarkXPress Removed

You attempt to load your DICT file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The DICT File Extension". Customarily, this means that QuarkXPress is not installed on %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your DICT with QuarkXPress, so double-clicking the file won't work.

Tip: When another DICT application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.

Outdated QuarkXPress

In other instances, your Dictionary File file version may not be supported by your version of QuarkXPress. Installing the latest version of QuarkXPress from Quark Software Inc. is recommended. The primary cause of this problem is that your Dictionary File file was created by a different (newer) version of QuarkXPress than what's installed.

Tip: Right-clicking on your DICT, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
