Troubleshoot DLP Files
Frequent DLP Opening Issues
DirectMusic Producer is Not Installed
You attempt to load your DLP file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The DLP File Extension". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because DirectMusic Producer isn't installed on your PC. You won't be able to double-click to open your DLP because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: If you don't have DirectMusic Producer installed, and you know of another program to open your DLP file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Obsolete Version of DirectMusic Producer
It is possible that your version of DirectMusic Producer isn't able to open your DirectMusic Producer DLS Data file due to incompatibility. If you've got the wrong version of DirectMusic Producer installed, you'll need to install the correct version. This problem is predominately due to having a DirectMusic Producer DLS Data file version that was created by a newer version of DirectMusic Producer than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of DLP file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening DLP files are due to having the wrong version of DirectMusic Producer installed.
Associated Difficulties Loading DLP Files
