DOCMHTML File Complications
Frequent DOCMHTML Opening Issues
Microsoft Word Not Present
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open DOCMHTML Files" when trying to open your DOCMHTML. If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Microsoft Word for %%os%% installed on your computer. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the DOCMHTML file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: When another DOCMHTML application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Incorrect Microsoft Word Version
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Microsoft Word installed that's incompatible with your Microsoft Word MIME HTML Document type. If you do not have the proper version Microsoft Word (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. The primary cause of this problem is that your Microsoft Word MIME HTML Document file was created by a different (newer) version of Microsoft Word than what's installed.
Tip: If you right-click on your DOCMHTML file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Summary: Not having the right Microsoft Word version on your computer can cause problems opening DOCMHTML files.
Other DOCMHTML File Opening Causes
Although you might already have Microsoft Word or another DOCMHTML-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Microsoft Word MIME HTML Document files. If you are continuing to have errors with loading DOCMHTML files, other external issues might be to blame. Additional factors include:
- Windows Registry DOCMHTML file paths that are incorrect
- Deletion of the DOCMHTML file description from the Registry by mistake
- Defective install of a DOCMHTML program, such as Microsoft Word
- The DOCMHTML itself is corrupted
- Malware-tainted DOCMHTML file can't be opened
- DOCMHTML-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Windows cannot load your Microsoft Word MIME HTML Document file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
