DSX Troubleshooting
Troubles Opening DSX Files
DAZ Studio Disappeared
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open DSX Files" when trying to open your DSX. When this happens, it is commonly due to DAZ Studio missing in %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the DSX file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: Another DSX-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
DAZ Studio Requires Update
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of DAZ Studio installed that's incompatible with your DAZ Studio XML File type. If you do not have the proper version DAZ Studio (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. The primary cause of this problem is that your DAZ Studio XML File file was created by a different (newer) version of DAZ Studio than what's installed.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your DSX file and clicking "Properties".
Primarily, problems experienced when opening DSX files are due to having the incorrect version of DAZ Studio installed on your computer.
More Causes of Problems Opening DSXs
Assuming you have the right DAZ Studio version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening DSX files. Other DSX opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Additional factors include:
- Invalid DSX file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- Unintentional removal of the description of the DSX file inside the Windows Registry
- Defective install of a DSX program, such as DAZ Studio
- The DSX itself is corrupted
- Your DSX is infected with malware
- Device drivers for DSX-related hardware are out-of-date
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your DAZ Studio XML File file successfully
