DUT Troubleshooting
Common Problems Opening DUT Files
Microsoft Notepad Disappeared
When trying to open your DUT file, you get the error "Can't Open DUT File Type". If so, it typically means that you don't have Microsoft Notepad installed for %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the DUT file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your DUT file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Outdated Microsoft Notepad
Your Dutch Localization Language file is incompatible with Microsoft Notepad because you might have the wrong version installed. Download the latest Microsoft Notepad version from the Microsoft Corporation website to ensure you have the correct one installed. This issue mainly occurs when your Dutch Localization Language file was created by a newer version of Microsoft Notepad than you have on your PC.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the DUT file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening DUT files are due to having the wrong version of Microsoft Notepad installed.
Additional DUT Opening Issues
Errors opening Dutch Localization Language files can still occur even with the latest Microsoft Notepad software installed on your computer. Other DUT opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Additional factors include:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for DUT
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry DUT description
- Corrupt install of Microsoft Notepad or other DUT-related program
- Something has caused file corruption of your DUT
- DUT file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Device drivers for DUT-related hardware are out-of-date
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the Dutch Localization Language file
