Troubleshooting Problems Opening ENV Files
Frequent ENV Opening Issues
Adobe Illustrator CC Isn't There
If you attempt to load your ENV file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open ENV Files". When this happens, it is commonly due to Adobe Illustrator CC missing in %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the ENV file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: Another ENV-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Incorrect Adobe Illustrator CC Version
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Adobe Illustrator CC installed that's incompatible with your Adobe Dictionary Data File type. Download the latest Adobe Illustrator CC version from the Adobe Systems Incorporated website to ensure you have the correct one installed. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: If you right-click on your ENV file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening ENV files are due to having the incorrect version of Adobe Illustrator CC installed on your computer.
Additional ENV Opening Issues
You can still experience errors opening ENV files even with the latest version of Adobe Illustrator CC installed on your PC. If you're still experiencing problems opening ENV files, there could be other computer problems. Other contributing causes:
