Sources of F13 Problems
Issues Opening F13 Files
MS-DOS Removed
Double-clicking your F13 file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open F13 File". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have MS-DOS for %%os%% installed on your computer. The OS won't know what to do with your F13 file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your F13 file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Outdated MS-DOS
It is possible that your version of MS-DOS isn't able to open your MS-DOS Screen Text 13 Pixels Height Font file due to incompatibility. If you've got the wrong version of MS-DOS installed, you'll need to install the correct version. This issue mainly occurs when your MS-DOS Screen Text 13 Pixels Height Font file was created by a newer version of MS-DOS than you have on your PC.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the F13 file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Summary: Not having the right MS-DOS version on your computer can cause problems opening F13 files.
Additional F13 Opening Issues
Assuming you have the right MS-DOS version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening F13 files. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening F13s. Other contributing causes:
- Invalid F13 file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- Unintentional removal of the description of the F13 file inside the Windows Registry
- Defective install of a F13 program, such as MS-DOS
- F13 file corruption
- F13 file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Hardware associated with F13 has outdated drivers
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the MS-DOS Screen Text 13 Pixels Height Font format
