Understanding G32 Issues
Common G32 Opening Problems
Microsoft Dynamics AX Not Present
Double-clicking your G32 file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open G32 File". If so, it typically means that you don't have Microsoft Dynamics AX installed for %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your G32 with Microsoft Dynamics AX, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your G32, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Microsoft Dynamics AX is Out-of-Date
In other instances, your Microsoft FRx General Ledger Index File file version may not be supported by your version of Microsoft Dynamics AX. If you've got the wrong version of Microsoft Dynamics AX installed, you'll need to install the correct version. The primary cause of this problem is that your Microsoft FRx General Ledger Index File file was created by a different (newer) version of Microsoft Dynamics AX than what's installed.
Tip: Investigate your G32 file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening G32 files are due to having the wrong version of Microsoft Dynamics AX installed.
Other G32 File Opening Causes
You can still experience errors opening G32 files even with the latest version of Microsoft Dynamics AX installed on your PC. If you are still having problems opening G32 files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- G32 file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry G32 description
- Microsoft Dynamics AX or another G32 application experienced a flawed installation
- Your G32 file is corrupted (issues with your Microsoft FRx General Ledger Index File file itself)
- The G32 is infected with a virus
- Hardware associated with G32 has outdated drivers
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open Microsoft FRx General Ledger Index File files
