HXQ File Complications
Troubles Opening HXQ Files
Microsoft Visual Studio Isn't There
Double-clicking your HXQ file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open HXQ File". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Microsoft Visual Studio for %%os%% installed on your computer. Your operating system cannot associate your HXQ with Microsoft Visual Studio, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your HXQ file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Wrong Version of Microsoft Visual Studio is Installed
Sometimes your installed version of Microsoft Visual Studio won't support your Microsoft Help 2 Query Index file. Installing the latest version of Microsoft Visual Studio from Microsoft Corporation is recommended. This issue mainly occurs when your Microsoft Help 2 Query Index file was created by a newer version of Microsoft Visual Studio than you have on your PC.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of HXQ file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Primarily, problems experienced when opening HXQ files are due to having the incorrect version of Microsoft Visual Studio installed on your computer.
Additional HXQ Opening Issues
You can still experience errors opening HXQ files even with the latest version of Microsoft Visual Studio installed on your PC. Other HXQ opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Issues that aren't software-related:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for HXQ
- Accidental deletion of the description of the HXQ file in the Windows registry
- Defective install of a HXQ program, such as Microsoft Visual Studio
- Something has caused file corruption of your HXQ
- Malware-tainted HXQ file can't be opened
- HXQ-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your Microsoft Help 2 Query Index file successfully
