INL File Complications
Troubles Opening INL Files
C++ is Not Installed
When you double-click your INL file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Usually, this is because you do not have C++ for %%os%% installed. You won't be able to double-click to open your INL because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your INL, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
C++ Requires Update
It is possible that your version of C++ isn't able to open your C++ Inline File file due to incompatibility. If you do not have the proper version C++ (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is predominately due to having a C++ Inline File file version that was created by a newer version of C++ than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: If you right-click on your INL file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Summary: Not having the right C++ version on your computer can cause problems opening INL files.
Other INL File Opening Causes
Even with the correct version of C++ installed, you can still experience difficulties opening INLs. If you're still experiencing problems opening INL files, there could be other computer problems. Other contributing causes:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for INL
- Deletion of the INL file description from the Registry by mistake
- Partial installation of C++ that did not fully complete
- Your INL file is corrupted (issues with your C++ Inline File file itself)
- Past or present virus infection has affected your INL
- Device drivers for INL-related hardware are out-of-date
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open C++ Inline File files
