Troubleshoot IN_ Files
Common Problems Opening IN_ Files
Missing Microsoft Windows
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open IN_ Files" when trying to open your IN_. If so, it typically means that you don't have Microsoft Windows installed for %%os%%. The OS won't know what to do with your IN_ file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens IN_ files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Microsoft Windows Requires Update
It is possible that your version of Microsoft Windows isn't able to open your Microcoft Setup Information Data file due to incompatibility. If you do not have the proper version Microsoft Windows (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is predominately due to having a Microcoft Setup Information Data file version that was created by a newer version of Microsoft Windows than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Investigate your IN_ file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Summary: Not having the right Microsoft Windows version on your computer can cause problems opening IN_ files.
Other IN_ File Issues
Assuming you have the right Microsoft Windows version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening IN_ files. If you're still experiencing problems opening IN_ files, there could be other computer problems. Problems unrelated to software:
- Windows Registry IN_ file paths that are incorrect
- Unintentional removal of the description of the IN_ file inside the Windows Registry
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the IN_ format
- Your IN_ file is corrupted (issues with your Microcoft Setup Information Data file itself)
