Troubleshooting Problems Opening IRD Files
Troubles Opening IRD Files
Microsoft Money Not Present
If you attempt to load your IRD file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open IRD Files". Usually, this is because you do not have Microsoft Money for %%os%% installed. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your IRD file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Incorrect Microsoft Money Version
In other instances, your Microsoft Money Temporary File file version may not be supported by your version of Microsoft Money. If you've got the wrong version of Microsoft Money installed, you'll need to install the correct version. Your Microsoft Money Temporary File file was probably created by a newer release of Microsoft Money than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your IRD file and clicking "Properties".
Summary: Not having the right Microsoft Money version on your computer can cause problems opening IRD files.
Other IRD File Issues
Assuming you have the right Microsoft Money version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening IRD files. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening IRDs. Problems unrelated to software:
- File references in the Windows Registry for IRD are wrong
- Corruption of the IRD file description inside the Registry
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the IRD format
- Something has caused file corruption of your IRD
- Malware-tainted IRD file can't be opened
- IRD-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your Microsoft Money Temporary File file successfully
