Troubleshooting Problems Opening JOB Files
Troubles Opening JOB Files
MetaCAM Nesting Not Present
You attempt to load your JOB file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The JOB File Extension". Customarily, this means that MetaCAM Nesting is not installed on %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your JOB with MetaCAM Nesting, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: If you don't have MetaCAM Nesting installed, and you know of another program to open your JOB file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
MetaCAM Nesting is Out-of-Date
Your MetaCAM Nest Job File file is incompatible with MetaCAM Nesting because you might have the wrong version installed. Visit the Metamation website to download (or purchase) the latest version of MetaCAM Nesting. Most of the time your MetaCAM Nest Job File file was created by a newer MetaCAM Nesting than what you have installed.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of JOB file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Regardless, most of the JOB file opening problems relate to not having the right version of MetaCAM Nesting installed.
Other JOB File Opening Causes
Even with the correct version of MetaCAM Nesting installed, you can still experience difficulties opening JOBs. If you are still having problems opening JOB files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Other contributing causes:
- JOB file type Registry entries are wrong
- Corruption of the JOB file description inside the Registry
- MetaCAM Nesting or another JOB application experienced a flawed installation
- Your JOB file is corrupted (issues with your MetaCAM Nest Job File file itself)
- Malware-tainted JOB file can't be opened
- Drivers associated with JOB software need to be updated
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your MetaCAM Nest Job File file successfully
