JOR Troubleshooting
Issues Opening JOR Files
Microsoft SQL Server is Not Installed
You attempt to load your JOR file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The JOR File Extension". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Microsoft SQL Server for %%os%% installed on your computer. Your operating system cannot associate your JOR with Microsoft SQL Server, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: When another JOR application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Incorrect Microsoft SQL Server Version
In other instances, your Microsoft SQL Server Journal File file version may not be supported by your version of Microsoft SQL Server. You will need to download a newer version of Microsoft SQL Server if you don't have the right version. The primary cause of this problem is that your Microsoft SQL Server Journal File file was created by a different (newer) version of Microsoft SQL Server than what's installed.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the JOR file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening JOR files are due to having the incorrect version of Microsoft SQL Server installed on your computer.
Associated Difficulties Loading JOR Files
Although you might already have Microsoft SQL Server or another JOR-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Microsoft SQL Server Journal File files. If you are still having problems opening JOR files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Additional factors include:
- JOR file type Registry entries are wrong
- Unintentional removal of the description of the JOR file inside the Windows Registry
- Defective install of a JOR program, such as Microsoft SQL Server
- Your JOR file is corrupted (issues with your Microsoft SQL Server Journal File file itself)
- Malware-tainted JOR file can't be opened
- Device drivers for JOR-related hardware are out-of-date
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open Microsoft SQL Server Journal File files
