JWL Troubleshooting
Typical JWL Opening Challenges
Roxio Creator NXT Pro 5 Isn't There
If you attempt to load your JWL file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open JWL Files". If so, it typically means that you don't have Roxio Creator NXT Pro 5 installed for %%os%%. You won't be able to double-click to open your JWL because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens JWL files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Outdated Roxio Creator NXT Pro 5
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Roxio Creator NXT Pro 5 installed that's incompatible with your Roxio Jewel Case File type. If you do not have the proper version Roxio Creator NXT Pro 5 (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is predominately due to having a Roxio Jewel Case File file version that was created by a newer version of Roxio Creator NXT Pro 5 than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Right-clicking on your JWL, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening JWL files are due to having the incorrect version of Roxio Creator NXT Pro 5 installed on your computer.
Additional JWL Opening Issues
Errors opening Roxio Jewel Case File files can still occur even with the latest Roxio Creator NXT Pro 5 software installed on your computer. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening JWLs. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for JWL
- Accidental deletion of the description of the JWL file in the Windows registry
- Defective install of a JWL program, such as Roxio Creator NXT Pro 5
- Your JWL can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Malware-tainted JWL file can't be opened
- Drivers associated with JWL software need to be updated
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open Roxio Jewel Case File files
