LBT Troubleshooting
Frequent LBT Opening Issues
Microsoft Visual FoxPro Disappeared
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open LBT Files" when trying to open your LBT. When this happens, it is commonly due to Microsoft Visual FoxPro missing in %%os%%. The typical path of opening your LBT with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens LBT files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Microsoft Visual FoxPro Requires Update
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a FoxPro Label Memo file that is unsupported by your installed application version. Download the latest Microsoft Visual FoxPro version from the Microsoft Corporation website to ensure you have the correct one installed. The primary cause of this problem is that your FoxPro Label Memo file was created by a different (newer) version of Microsoft Visual FoxPro than what's installed.
Tip: Right-clicking on your LBT, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Regardless, most of the LBT file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Microsoft Visual FoxPro installed.
Other LBT File Opening Causes
You can still experience errors opening LBT files even with the latest version of Microsoft Visual FoxPro installed on your PC. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening LBT files. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- Windows Registry LBT file paths that are incorrect
- Unintentional removal of the description of the LBT file inside the Windows Registry
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the LBT format
- LBT file corruption
- Malware-tainted LBT file can't be opened
- Device drivers for LBT-related hardware are out-of-date
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the FoxPro Label Memo file
