Troubleshooting Problems Opening LDP Files

Typical LDP Opening Challenges

Lingoes Not Present

You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open LDP Files" when trying to open your LDP. When this happens, it is commonly due to Lingoes missing in %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the LDP file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.

Tip: When another LDP application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.

Obsolete Version of Lingoes

Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Lingoes installed that's incompatible with your Lingoes Dictionary File type. If you do not have the proper version Lingoes (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. The primary cause of this problem is that your Lingoes Dictionary File file was created by a different (newer) version of Lingoes than what's installed.

Tip: Investigate your LDP file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.

Primarily, problems experienced when opening LDP files are due to having the incorrect version of Lingoes installed on your computer.
