Troubleshooting Problems Opening LGC Files
Common LGC Opening Problems
Microsoft Windows Disappeared
When you double-click your LGC file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Customarily, this means that Microsoft Windows is not installed on %%os%%. You won't be able to double-click to open your LGC because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: Another LGC-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Obsolete Version of Microsoft Windows
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Microsoft Windows installed that's incompatible with your Microsoft Windows Application Log File type. If you do not have the proper version Microsoft Windows (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is predominately due to having a Microsoft Windows Application Log File file version that was created by a newer version of Microsoft Windows than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Investigate your LGC file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Conclusion: The majority of LGC file opening issues are due to not having the correct Microsoft Windows version installed.
Associated Difficulties Loading LGC Files
You can still experience errors opening LGC files even with the latest version of Microsoft Windows installed on your PC. If you are continuing to have errors with loading LGC files, other external issues might be to blame. Problems unrelated to software:
- LGC file type Registry entries are wrong
- Deletion of the LGC file description from the Registry by mistake
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the LGC format
- Your LGC file is corrupted (issues with your Microsoft Windows Application Log File file itself)
- Your LGC is infected with malware
- LGC-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Windows cannot load your Microsoft Windows Application Log File file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
