LGD Troubleshooting
Common LGD Opening Problems
Microsoft Windows Removed
Double-clicking your LGD file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open LGD File". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Microsoft Windows for %%os%% installed on your computer. Your operating system cannot associate your LGD with Microsoft Windows, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: If you don't have Microsoft Windows installed, and you know of another program to open your LGD file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Microsoft Windows is Out-of-Date
It is possible that your version of Microsoft Windows isn't able to open your Microsoft Windows Application Log File file due to incompatibility. Installing the latest version of Microsoft Windows from Microsoft Corporation is recommended. The primary cause of this problem is that your Microsoft Windows Application Log File file was created by a different (newer) version of Microsoft Windows than what's installed.
Tip: Right-clicking on your LGD, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening LGD files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Other Causes of LGD File Opening Problems
Assuming you have the right Microsoft Windows version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening LGD files. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening LGD files. Issues that aren't software-related:
- File references in the Windows Registry for LGD are wrong
- Deletion of the LGD file description from the Registry by mistake
- Defective install of a LGD program, such as Microsoft Windows
- Your LGD file is corrupted (issues with your Microsoft Windows Application Log File file itself)
- Past or present virus infection has affected your LGD
- LGD-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Microsoft Windows Application Log File format
