LWV Troubleshooting
Common LWV Opening Problems
Microsoft Agent Not Present
You attempt to load your LWV file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The LWV File Extension". If so, it typically means that you don't have Microsoft Agent installed for %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the LWV file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: When another LWV application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Obsolete Version of Microsoft Agent
Sometimes your installed version of Microsoft Agent won't support your Linguistically Enhanced Sound File file. You will need to download a newer version of Microsoft Agent if you don't have the right version. Your Linguistically Enhanced Sound File file was probably created by a newer release of Microsoft Agent than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your LWV file and clicking "Properties".
Summary: Not having the right Microsoft Agent version on your computer can cause problems opening LWV files.
Other Causes of LWV File Opening Problems
Assuming you have the right Microsoft Agent version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening LWV files. Other LWV opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Issues that aren't software-related:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for LWV
- Accidental deletion of the description of the LWV file in the Windows registry
- Microsoft Agent or another LWV application experienced a flawed installation
- Something has caused file corruption of your LWV
- The LWV is infected with a virus
- Hardware related to LWVs has device driver corruption
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Linguistically Enhanced Sound File format
