Troubleshooting Problems Opening MAM Files
Issues Opening MAM Files
Microsoft Access Not Present
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open MAM Files" when trying to open your MAM. If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Microsoft Access for %%os%% installed on your computer. Your operating system cannot associate your MAM with Microsoft Access, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your MAM, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Outdated Microsoft Access
Your Microsoft Access Macro file is incompatible with Microsoft Access because you might have the wrong version installed. You will need to download a newer version of Microsoft Access if you don't have the right version. Most of the time your Microsoft Access Macro file was created by a newer Microsoft Access than what you have installed.
Tip: If you right-click on your MAM file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Conclusion: The majority of MAM file opening issues are due to not having the correct Microsoft Access version installed.
Other MAM File Issues
Although you might already have Microsoft Access or another MAM-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Microsoft Access Macro files. If you're still experiencing problems opening MAM files, there could be other computer problems. Issues that aren't software-related:
- Windows Registry MAM file paths that are incorrect
- Deletion of the MAM file description from the Registry by mistake
- Corrupt install of Microsoft Access or other MAM-related program
- Something has caused file corruption of your MAM
- Your MAM has adversely impacted by malware
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your MAM file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Microsoft Access Macro format
